Rostered Duties

All members are required to do four rostered duties a year – one each quarter. You can specify which day and start time you would like to do your duty, Tuesday or Saturday from 9.30am or 10.00am.  Each shift is two hours. The time between 11.45am and 12.00pm is allocating for cleaning, tiding and locking up. Please use the vacuum cleaner stored behind the curtain.

If it is not possible to attend your rostered duty you can swap via Mibase up to two weeks before you are rostered on. Alternatively, please attempt to organize a swap with a member you know or via the closed Facebook group. If still unsuccessful, please phone or text Jane Donald on 0419 443 298.  Please advise Jane of any changes.

A fine of $30 will be imposed on any member who fails to do their rostered duty without prior notice. Alternatively, a member may undertake a makeup duty within the same quarter. If another member fails to show up for their rostered duty please ensure Jane is aware of this.

Members are welcome to bring their children when they are on duty. Please encourage your children to play with larger items. This is to avoid losing pieces from boxed toys.

Borrowing

  • Any member may borrow four toys and four puzzles per family for up to three weeks at a time.
  • There is no returning or borrowing after 11.45am to allow those on duty to clean up.
  • Toys cannot be re-borrowed. You must return the toy and borrow it at a later date.
  • Do not borrow toys that have missing pieces.

Returning Toys

It is a public health responsibility to have all toys cleaned, disinfected and dry upon returning.

Larger toys can be cleaned by wiping them over with hot soapy water and smaller toys can be washed in a tub. You should clean the storage container as well.

All costumes must be washed before returning (on gentle cycle in cold water). Puzzle bags may also be washed in this manner if required.

When you return a toy or puzzle make sure you return the bag or container that it came in. Puzzles are to be completed upon returning.

Missing Pieces and/or Broken Toys

To ensure the quality of our toys and puzzles are maintained, strict rules have been implemented. Your cooperation in following these rules is crucial to the running of a successful toy library.

  • If a member returns a toy or puzzle and pieces are missing, they will need to reborrow the toy and try and find these pieces. We do not want to incorporate toys with missing pieces back into the library for borrowing.
  • If you lose a piece from a toy or puzzle you will be responsible for paying a $10 fine per missing piece. This is refundable upon return of the missing piece(s). Ensure you get a receipt when paying a fine.
  • If the toy is damaged significantly or cannot be used without the missing piece(s), you will have to pay the cost of replacing the whole toy.
  • If you believe a toy has been damaged through wear and tear, leave it behind the counter on return for review by the committee.
  • Any member who continuously loses pieces may lose their borrowing rights.
  • All fines need to be paid before a member can resume borrowing.

Late Returns

Fines will apply to any toys and puzzles that are returned late. The rate will be $1 per item, per week. All fines need to be paid before a member can resume borrowing.

In the event of overdue toys failing to be returned within a reasonable time frame, the committee will attempt to contact you on 3 separate occasions before considering legal avenues for recovery.
